After looking towards his future from an early age and knowing exactly what he wanted, Joe explains how the prospect of spending all of his time in hospital came as a huge blow. As his way of dealing with the situation, Joe talks about how he faced his illness with a logical approach so he could proceed with the most effective treatment plan possible and become aware of all eventualities. Managing to continue with his studies, Joe explains how focusing on his education as a way of coping with his cancer provided him with an extra drive, one that got him to University.
